The first ever sunflower maze farm in the Philippines opens to public on Feb. 17, 2017. The farm is owned by the Allied Botanical Corp. (ABC), a vegetable seed breeder, producer and distributor.

The giant maze of flowers would look like a fully opened sunflower sprawling at a 2,100-square-meter portion of a 3-hectare demonstration farm in Barangay C. Lichauco, Tayug, Pangasinan.

The sunflower maze was designed by landscape artist Toni Rivera. As much as 8,000 sunflower plants would make up the maze. Pathways are wide enough to fit four people walking side by side. The maze can accommodate up to 100 people per tour and it will take about 30 minutes to finish. There are three secret gardens where people can take selfies or just rest.

The giant sunflower maze will be the main attraction of the company’s open days, which will run from Feb. 17 to May 17.

The walkway leading to the maze’s entrance would showcase an urban and edible landscape, green walls and ornamental plants. Recycled materials, such as blue drums, tires, office drawers, steel cabinets, doors and chairs were planted with plants to give tourists some ideas as to how urban and edible landscapes could be accomplished. The old Ford truck was included in the display, planted with different edible and ornamental plants.

The farm also features vegetation, which house different vegetables from staples to rare varieties, including purple sweet corns. Visitors are also entitled to a pick-and-pay treat where they can harvest their own fresh crops from the farm.

There is also 8,000-sqm farm of watermelon and melon plantation where visitors can pick their own melons for a fee.

Ornamental plants would be sold at a nursery beside the company’s main building.

The sunflower maze adventure is one of the activities at the Open House 2017 by Allied Botanical Corporation (ABC) in Pangasinan.
